An Update from CASA Regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic

We founded CASA to help climbers come together to do good things — to protect the places we love to recreate, and to support those who share that love.

CASA is about community, and during the COVID-19 pandemic we remain dedicated to our many volunteers, supporters and fellow climbers.

We would like to encourage everyone to come together and support each other during this difficult and rapidly changing situation.

You can help by:
  1. Social Distancing  — Flatten the curve to project vulnerable people and not overload the medical system. (more info)
  2. Reaching out to friends and family via phone/internet. Isolation can be very difficult for some people.
  3. Volunteering to purchase groceries/medication for those with mobility issues.
  4. Supporting local business by ordering online/to go, buying gift cards, etc - many people are facing financial challenges during this time.

We understand that for many of you being outside helps deal with stress, and these are definitely stressful times. If you head outdoors, please consider the following:

  1. Don’t take road trips. Small communities are extra vulnerable to COVID-19. Help protect these people. AAC post
  2. Avoid busy crags/areas/trailheads to practice social distancing. Stay flexible, if you find yourself in an area filled with people, find another.
  3. Maximize safety. Injuries will burden an already taxed medical system and may result in delayed treatment. This isn’t the time to attempt your R/X project or mega highball.
  4. Ask yourself, are you making the situation worse? If you are, think about alternatives that do not.
  5. Read this AF post for additional information.
  6. Speak up to protect our communities. Encourage others to follow these guidelines

CASA has postponed all upcoming events to protect volunteers and members of the public. We will continue to provide updates and work remotely to fulfill our mission.

Thank you for supporting your community.
