The Crags Against Humanity Project, an initiative aimed at preserving and enhancing climbing areas, has recently achieved a significant milestone. The project, led by the CASA Stewardship Lead Eric Ruljancich, has received NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) approval from the Coronado National Forest (CNF). This approval marks a crucial step forward in the project's goal of adopting and improving the area known as Crags Against Humanity, located within the CNF. More information can be found in the Stewardship News. |
The Forest Service lifted nesting raptor closures in the Stronghold a few years ago, and is trusting climbers to NOT disturb the birds.
If climbers choose to disturb nesting raptors, the closures will be reinstated (and likely expanded). Please report nesting raptors on Mountain Project and via the link below. Educate yourself and others. We will update the website when new sightings are reported. List of updated routes now available!
Your CASA Anchor Team has been busy this summer replacing bolts on Mt Lemmon. The bolts in the photo below were all removed from the route Metro on Honeymooner Wall at Windy Point.
Thanks to the American Safe Climbing Association (ASCA) for their support! If you are seeing suspect climbing hardware out there like this or worse:
